Collection: Grant, Gladys

Originally from Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Gladys Grant has lived in Nova Scotia for thirty years and has been painting for over forty. Beginning with oil and acrylic, she then found her love of watercolour after studying with well-known Newfoundland painter Ed Roche.

Her work can be found throughout Canada in private and corporate collections.

Artist statement

Working mostly in watercolour, I am beginning to explore other mediums. I paint objects or views that I consider beautiful; because I spend many hours with one painting it needs to be something I admire. I use bright colours with strong light, deep shading and fine detail. Flowers have always been a popular subject of mine, but I also enjoy the shapes and shadows of buildings, and nothing can stop me from painting a beautiful view.

Painting has been a lifelong passion for me and I am grateful for every day that I am able to do so. Having recently moved into a new home with amazing lake views, big skies and forested trails, I see new inspiration in my future.
