Collection: Henry, Cynthia

In July of 2001, Cynthia made a promise to her mother on the day she died of cancer. She promised her she’d paint.

A graduate of Dalhousie University and the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design, Cynthia began exploring creative thought and expression on paper using watercolour and, more recently, acrylic on canvas, slate, wood and now feathers.

She is a member of Visual Arts Nova Scotia; Associate Member of the Society of Canadian Artists—National; and a Member of the Annapolis Region Community Arts Council in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia. Her work has appeared in a number of shows and publications, both local and international. In 2016 her crow painted on a crow feather was accepted into the Juried National Online Exhibition of the Society of Canadian Artists.

Artist Statement

Cynthia approaches each painting with artistic enthusiasm and proficiency. Known for her exquisite wildlife portraits, she also likes to take a walk on the wild side of life with her unusual, thought provoking and surreal-inspired concepts.

“I treat my canvases as an adventure in space and possibility. I like to take an idea, twist it, turn it, and then add something else. To paint is a joy, but to inspire is a privilege.”
